前蘇聯Venera13在1982年3月1日成功降落在金星表面拍下的照片。
On March 1 in 1966, the Soviet spacecraft Venera 3 arrived on the surface Venus, making it the 1st human-made probe to reach the surface of another planet. Unfortunately, communication with Venera 3 had been lost on February 16, 1966. No data from Venus was returned by Venera 3.
On the same day, 16 years later (1982), Venera 13 made a successful soft landing on Venus. The probe returned data for over 2 hours (far past the expected 30 minute survival period) providing researchers with an analysis soil samples, a range of color images, and other data. The probe eventually succumbed to the planet's incredibly hostile environment (surface pressures nearly 90 times those on Earth) and high temperatures (465 degrees Celsius).
