MDA's Mobile Base System (MBS) is an aluminum base structure installed on the International Space Station (ISS) on STS-111 in June 2002. It serves as a work and payload storage platform, sitting on the Boeing-provided Mobile Transporter that enables it to move along external rails on the ISS trusses. MDA's Canadarm2 and Special Purpose Dexterous Manipulator robotic systems can be attached to the MBS to enable relocation and use at different work sites on the ISS. The company's Robotic Workstations, installed in the U.S. Lab Module and the ISS Cupola, control the movements of the MBS.
