In 2001, Shuttle Mission STS-100 delivered the Space Station Remote Manipulator System (SSRMS), also known as Canadarm2, to the International Space Station.

Canadarm2, with the capability to move around the station’s exterior like an inchworm, was critical to the assembly of the space station. With the complex complete, Canadarms2 continues to play a significant role in maintaining the orbiting outpost.
Under government contract to the Canadian Space Agency, MDA led a Canada-wide industrial team to develop the robotic systems that represent Canada's contribution to the International Space Station.
